About the event
Maternity Matters Kamloops will be hosting a third community rally on January 3 in response to the ongoing maternity care crisis in Kamloops.
We want to be clear: we acknowledge that Interior Health has taken steps in response to public pressure.
However, dangerous gaps in maternity care still exist, including unresolved concerns around accessible prenatal care as well as continuous on-call obstetrical coverage.
Families in our community continue to face uncertainty when it comes to accessing safe, timely maternity care, and that is a situation that remains unacceptable.
At the same time, there has been no meaningful public response at all from the Ministry of Health, despite repeated calls for accountability and leadership.
The Ministry has an obligation to ensure continuous maternity care in Kamloops and to prevent this erosion of care from happening here or in any other community across British Columbia.
