How our team-based service is achieving its goals:

1) Reducing barriers to care

No family doctor? No problem. We welcome self-referrals by text or phone at 250-318-3861. With flexible in-person and virtual appointments, we’re making early pregnancy care accessible for families across Kamloops and surrounding rural communities. Translation services are also available.

2) Easing pressure on emergency and urgent care

Since opening, fewer people have needed to visit the RIH Emergency Department or the Urgent Primary Care Clinic — which does not provide maternity care — for early pregnancy concerns. This reduces wait times and frees up capacity for those needing urgent, non-pregnancy-related care.

3) Mobilizing under-utilized providers

Our innovative, flexible team approach welcomes midwives, nurse practitioners, nurses, and physicians to contribute in ways that fit their skills, passions, and work-life balance. Many care providers who stepped back from heavy caseload maternity care have returned through EPACT, enriching the network of support for families.

We know EPACT is not the solution — and it was never meant to be. Instead, it’s one vital piece of a bigger, multifaceted vision for the future of maternity care in Kamloops. 🌿

Thank you for two years of community support — and for trusting us to serve more than 1,500 families! ❤️
